A new study shows how you can build confidence by focusing on your thoughts.

The research suggests that having a self-directed and deliberate mindset helps you become more positive, which translates to more success.

The study found that people who were encouraged to use their thoughts, to make decisions, and to make a conscious effort to be better behaved also reported feeling more confident and better behaved.

“Our study suggests that being motivated to change one’s behaviour can help people improve their wellbeing and well-being,” lead researcher Michael Hirschmann from the University of Auckland said.
